David Macdonald - June 22nd, 2025 - Hope for troubled hearts John 13:36-14:6 ; John 12:23-33 Control for troubled Hearts "Let not your hearts be troubled" - commandment from the Lord Jesus Christ Jesus never promised us life without trouble, He promised we could have an untroubled heart even in a troubled life. present – passive – imperative "Let not your heart continue to be agitated" (Wuest translation) Ταράσσω, tarassó: stirred up; agitated – roiling waters Also used: Pool – crippled man (John 5:4) Lord Jesus Christ - "Now My soul is troubled" (John 12:27) A command, our response: Whenever God gives a command, He gives the capability through the Spirit to keep the command Would never give you a command you can't keep If Jesus says, "Stop being troubled!" We can stop being troubled! "Bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ," (2 Corinthians 10:5) "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind," (Romans 12:2) "Therefore gird up the loins of your mind," (1 Peter 1:13 (N)KJV) "So think clearly and exercise self-control." (1 Peter 1:13 NLT) “Therefore, preparing your minds for action” (1 Peter 1:13 ESV) Cure for troubled Hearts Jesus Christ doesn’t just tell us to stop worrying; He gives us reasons why we should not be troubled Think of Who we know John 14:1 NLT "Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me. "You believe in God, believe also in me": NKJV Think of Where You’ll Go John 14:2-4 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? The Bible speaks of heaven 532 times Country; heavenly country: speaking of its vastness (See Hebrews 11:16) City: speaking of the innumerable people (See Hebrews 11:16; Hebrews 12:22) Kingdom: God is King, reigning over all Paradise: indescribable beauty Place of rest: end of toil, tribulation, temptation, Jesus calls it “My Father’s house Revelation 21:10-17 (10) And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, (11) having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal… (15) And the one who spoke with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls. (16) The city lies foursquare; its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia (2300KM). Its length and width and height are equal. (17) He also measured its wall, 144 cubits (66M thick) by human measurement, which is also an angel's measurement. John 14:2-3 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? (3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. A physical place – Dimensional - cube Huge Dwelling places A personal place … a place for you… Prepared for you A place of relationship My Father’s house Home for us – forever! What make a home? Advent 2016 – The Messiah - Advent is a season observed in the Christian church as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas. This season we are using both the music and scripture texts of Handel’s Messiah as a guide to make our journey to the manger. Handel’s musical work is well known and has been part of Advent and Christmas celebrations for centuries. The devotions that follow are written by our present elders and college of elders along with our Cynthia Price pastoral residents. We thank them for sharing their insights and enabling us to make our own journey.

I, like many dyslexics, (sadly) grew up thinking I was stupid. I don't want anyone else thinking they are dumb, less valued than those around them, or not good enough because their brain isn't "normal." That's why I created the Dyslexia Is Our Superpower Podcast. Episode by episode a community of badass dyslexics has formed to show the world that dyslexia truly is a superpower. So whether you are a family member or educator of an awesome dyslexic or whether you have dyslexic superpowers yourself I welcome you to the tribe. In April 2019 the podcast changed direction a bit to include a very important audience: dyslexic kids. The Treasuring Your Dyslexic Superpowers series is a two part show. The first includes Super D, the dyslexic superhero as he goes on adventures helping dyslexics understand their brains better and realize they are beautiful not broken. And the second is an interview with a real life dyslexic superhero.Episodes come out every Tuesday and alternate between a chat
