1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration • Days 369-375Hi, it's Josh.Mindfulness. Optimism. Hope.“1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration” is the series in which I endeavor to remind myself — and you, if you feel like it — to remain mindful, optimistic, and hopeful during these challenging 1461 days.We are living in trying times that are trying to take our time away from living. The goal with this show — beyond entertainment — is to reclaim that time, regain my mind, and focus on what is important.I am not a self-help guru, I'm just trying to help myself.™+++Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast!Pick your preferred podcast app here: https://pod.link/1866233663+++This week on the show...On Day 369, I talk about New York Times columnist Jamelle Bouie. He is infinitely more intelligent than me, but intelligence falls by the wayside when it comes to anger. We all feel anger. Jamelle posted on TikTok discussing how he hates the idea that the Leader of the Trump Administration is suggesting putting his own signature on the currency. I find this infuriating on another level. Who wants to see his signature while paying for his overpriced gasoline? Good thing I don’t carry or have cash to carry! On Day 370, I talk about the Leader of the Trump Administration addressing the nation on the evening of April Fool’s Day to spread some intimidating bullshit about the war in Iran after spending the morning attending a Supreme Court hearing on birthright citizenship to try and spread some intimidating bullshit there. Neither of these attempts worked because when you annoy people who you want support from, you end up like Jar Jar Binks pissing off Star Wars fans. Not a good look. On Day 371, I offer sarcastic condolences to former Attorney General of the United States Ms. Pamela Bondi, who, after being fired and having her official portrait thrown in the trash, will now have to find a way to try to make people’s lives miserable in the private sector. I also mention how the Leader of The Trump Administration suggested on his fake Twitter account that Bruce Springsteen should sue his plastic surgeon. I can’t believe I just typed that sentence. On Day 372, I admit I am not totally sure what Easter is, but I actually get it close to correct anyway. I loved how Jay and Silent Bob beat up the Easter bunny in the box office flop turned cult favorite movie, Mallrats. I also know that there is chocolate, hard-boiled eggs, and Jesus involved. Cool. I have no problem with any religion as long as it is not imposed on me. Also, the Leader of The Trump Administration used the eff-word in his Easter message on this day. Cool. On Day 373, I mention a man whom I bring up here often: Penn Jillette of the magic duo Penn & Teller. Penn was discussing the Leader of The Trump Administration's eff-word-filled Easter message and how Penn’s longtime friend, the political commentator and television news host Lawrence O’Donnell, described the moment as an “attack on reality.” I take the optimistic route to remind that out in the streets of my town, people seem to act as if their reality is as boring as it has always been.On Day 374, I have a bit of fun responding to the frequent comment I receive that the Leader of The Trump Administration is quote-unquote “my entire personality.” I don’t get defensive, but I do defend myself a little by pointing out some of my hobbies, interests, and life pursuits, one of which is observing strange human behavior, which, as a writer, is what I am doing here when I comment on the Leader of The Trump Administration. I wrap up the week on Day 375 with a blasphemous twofer. First, the Leader of the Trump Administration publicly attacks the Pope, and then he posts a picture of himself as Jesus. Now, I am an agnostic by default, and I certainly don’t defend the Catholic Church, but I am not going out of my way to denigrate religion or religious figures. For the Leader of the Trump Administration, this seems to be standard behavior, however.+++Thanks for listening!Follow the 1461 Days of Ignoring with Josh Bloom podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or your preferred podcast app!Watch a compilation of the daily videos that this week’s episode of the show is based on over at YouTube.Follow The Josh Bloom Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or your preferred podcast app!+++Support! If you enjoy my work and want to support me, please consider a Substack subscription, or you can Buy Me A Coffee! My book about psych-pop icons and Elephant 6 co-founding band The Apples in Stereo is available now!
