Defining Worship (part 1)

In this episode, Pastor Mark discusses worship with Jeremy Robertson and Phillip Hardy. Together they discuss the biblical definition of worship which encompasses a comprehensive expression of reverence, adoration, and submission towards God.  Show Notes Worship Definition: Worship is the wholehearted expression of love, honor, and obedience to God, acknowledging His greatness, responding to His revelation, and surrendering to His lordship. Biblical references to support this definition of worship: Matthew 4:10 - "You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve." Psalm 95:6 - "Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!" Romans 12:1 - "I appeal to you, therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." John 4:23-24 - "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him." Quotes:  “Worship is the strategy by which we interrupt our preoccupation with ourselves and attend to the presence of God.” Eugene Peterson “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. And people who would be happy in heaven if Christ were not there, will not be there. The Gospel is not a way to get people to heaven; it is a way to get people to God.
