Des Guckian to contest General Election

Another candidate has stepped forward to run in the upcoming General Election.  Sitting Leitrim Councillor Des Guckian has declared his intention to run as an Independent candidate in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency.  Councillor Guckian previously contested the 2016 general election, receiving 1,060 first preference votes.  Speaking to Ocean FM News, he feels, despite being an Independent candidate, he would be a voice for those on the ground:
