Devotion: No Justice No Peace

from The Marben Bland Podcast · host Marben Bland

Send us Fan Mail“No justice, no peace!” is a powerful call for the equality and equity sought by the Black Lives Matter movement.  More than a slogan “No justice, no peace” is a concise description of the blinding privileges of whiteness that undergirds every factor of American life.   From redlining to unfunded schools, to law enforcement practices, the systemic favoring of whiteness makes it clear that we must chant “No justice, no peace” until it is understood that Black Lives Matter too.   Peace will not prevail until the systems that further white privilege from confederate symbols to gerrymandering to student loan debt to drug laws to the tax code are dismantled and replaced by policies of inclusion and laws of equity.    In the last book of the Old Testament the prophet, Malachi delivers two important messages.  First God is not pleased with the injustices of the world and secondly, God is sending a messenger who will prepare the way for the peace that will come.  The messenger is John the Baptist, and the peace that will come is Jesus.  In this holiday season where our attention can drift more to presents than peace.  Let us remember Jesus was born to bring peace and justice to a troubled world.  For those of us fighting for justice, we must remember that No Justice No Peace means nothing unless and until we have the peace of Jesus flowing within us.  For More Great Content Go To  Marben Bland.com
