In this episode, we have a conversation about digitization and how covid impacted digitalization in the Maghreb region. We explored the journey of a local NGO, small businesses and government institutions. We sat down with Aimen Elhajji, founder and manager of l’blend; a local NGO in Morocco. With Aimen, we spoke of how the pandemic affected his NGO work, how the team rethinked their services and built digital engagement with the community. Aimen spoke on the assets that made this transition smooth. He told us how they created content to spread awareness about preventive measures and used digital communication to promote local values and solidarity. To understand the broad nationwide perspective, we are joined by Mr Mustapha Mezghani, digital transformation and public policy expert We started by giving an overall idea on the current state of digital transformation and the covid impact. Mr Mezghani emphasized on how the pandemic showed the true need for digital tools and for governments to identify the real need to provide services online and collect taxes by upgrading current services. Going digital is a priority to attract foreign investments, leverage life quality; especially for young generations. Mr Mezghani indicated the government's critical role to create a suitable environment by proposing and updating legislation. He gave the example of e-health services in Tunisia that are facing obstacles due to restrictive unrevised legislation. We also spoke of the role of the government; civil society and private sector in tackling digital illiteracy and advocating for a better legal framework. Our guest also suggested developing multi channels for governmental services and gave the example of the covid vaccine registration in Tunisia. Mr Mezghani emphasized on the digital being a tool to achieve a vision for a better life quality to all citizens. _____ Dans cet épisode, nous avons eu une conversation sur la numérisation et l'impact de la crise covid dans la région du Maghreb. Nous nous sommes entretenus avec Aimen Elhajji, fondateur et directeur de l’blend; une ONG locale au Maroc. Avec Aimen, nous avons parlé de la manière dont la pandémie a affecté le travail de son ONG, la façon avec laquelle l'équipe a repensé ses services et construit un engagement numérique avec sa communauté.
