Divorced but Not Broken : Journey of Co-Parenting and Growth

from Divorce Reimagined · host Stephanie B and Jacob S

Hi everyone, welcome to Divorce Reimagined, a podcast where we, Stephie B and Jacob S, share our experiences and insights on how to navigate the challenges and opportunities of co-parenting. We are two divorced parents who have a supportive and respectful relationship with each other, and we want to help other single parents and co-parents who are going through the same journey. In this episode, we tell you a bit about ourselves and why we decided to start this podcast. We want to create a community of people who can support each other and learn from each other’s perspectives. We also want to address various topics that affect our daily lives, such as the emotional, parenting, creative, financial, and dating aspects of being divorced. We also cover the stigma of divorce and how it affects us and our children. We share how we feel embarrassed, judged, and misunderstood by others when we talk about our divorce. We also share how we try to protect our children from the negative effects of the stigma, and how we try to give them a sense of togetherness and happiness as a family. We also talk about how we managed to split amicably and fairly without lawyers. We share how we avoided the drama, the fighting, the custody battles, and the payments that often come with divorce. We share how we focused on what was best for our children and ourselves, and how we came up with a simple and fair separation agreement. We also share how we saved money, time, and stress by not involving lawyers in our divorce. We also talk about how we maintain a supportive and respectful relationship with each other. We share how we communicate effectively, compromise, negotiate, and set healthy boundaries with each other. We also share how we respect each other’s personal lives and don’t ask questions that are off-limits. We also share how we support each other emotionally and mentally when we go through difficult times. We also talk about how we deal with different situations that arise as co-parents. We share how we handle big expenses, such as braces or medical devices for our children. We also share how we handle travel plans, business trips, or personal trips that affect our co-parenting schedule. We also share how we are flexible and understanding with each other when things change or when we need a break. We hope you enjoyed this episode and learned something from it. If you have any feedback or suggestions for future topics, please feel free to contact us by email or visit our website. We look forward to producing an episode once a week and uploading it every Tuesday. Thank you for listening to Divorce Reimagined. We are Stephie B and Jay, signing off. Marriage Fitness with Mort Fertel Mort Fertel In this podcast Mort Fertel shares the secrets to saving your marriage, stopping a divorce, ending affairs, and reconnecting with your spouse. C.S. Lewis's The Last Battle St. Philip's Church: Charleston, SC Come join us on Wednesday nights as we explore the riches of C.S. Lewis’s marvelous book The Last Battle, which is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia. It is a remarkable book on multiple levels and was awarded the Carnegie Medal back in the 1950s when it was first published. The Last Battle has some themes in common with The Great Divorce and That Hideous Strength that will make it an excellent follow-up to those two books, and like them, it has some remarkable resonance with things going on in today’s culture. It is a book that is both theologically rich and poignantly beautiful in its writing, and it can help equip us to live boldly for Christ in a culture that has lost its way. (Although this book is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia, it can stand on its own and it is not necessary to have read the other books for this class.)
