Doherty defends party's stance on Senator resignation

Donegal Sinn Féin TD Pearse Doherty has defended his party's decision not to reveal the real reason behind the resignation of Senator Niall Ó Donnghaile last year.  Senator O Donnghaile cited health reasons for his departure from the upper house, it’s now emerged he'd sent inappropriate texts to a 17-year-old.  It’s the second scandal to hit the party this week, after the resignation of TD Brian Stanley who now says Mary Lou McDonald abused Dail privilege when making statements about him yesterday.  The party's finance spokesperson is denying it covered up the Ó Donnghaile case by not revealing what happened.
