Donegal GP questions proposal to employ HSE GPs

A Donegal GP has questioned a new proposal by the government to directly employ HSE GPs.It is hoped to address the issue of GP shortages, while also being a way to tackle the lack of doctors in rural areas.GPs currently run independent practices, and this would be a move away from the current set up.President of the IMO, Dr Denis McCauley, says it’s a good idea, but isn’t sure if it resolves the real problem:
