Too often, individual change agents push ahead on their own to try to create change without developing the critical coalitions, capacities, and organizational infrastructures necessary for meaningful, sustainable culture change.While these individual efforts may result in some minor progress, the inertia and resistance of the organizational culture and apathy of leaders will most likely win out in the end. And things will eventually return to the status quo.It is critical that individual change agents learn to partner in strategic coalition with key stakeholders and other change agents throughout the organization; only through intentional, persistent, collective action will sustainable progress occur.
