Dot to dot. A new skill every day in five minutes. Hey guys, Robin here. Today we are looking at a skill for all of you who wanted to complete a Rubik's Cube but never was able to.
And this is a quite painful skill. We're certainly not going to go through all of it because the setup process is very painful and laborious. This really is for people that are very keen to complete a Rubik's Cube for the first time, even though it'll take whole minutes to actually give the skill the information it needs about the state of your cube. So basically, get a standard Rubik's Cube, scramble it up, and this one assumes that you've got the standard colours.
I did this with Faith yesterday, my daughter, and she had pink instead of red. But once you know that, you know, you have to say red instead of pink, then you can do that. Or you can say other, and you can give it the colours of your particular cube, so you don't have to do that sort of mentally each time. But basically, the first part, which is what we're going to listen to, is the setup of the cube.
And I'll just do a couple of faces, but actually you have to do all six, so let's give it a go. Alexa, open Cube Solver. Welcome to Cube Solver. I'm going to have you solve your 3 by 3 cube.
Are you ready? Great. First, I want you to hold your cube so that the white centre square is towards you. Got it?
Now, keeping the white centre square towards you, rotate so that the blue centre square is on top. Okay, then, looking at the face with the white centre square, read out the nine colours, from top left to bottom right. For example, say, red, green, blue, white, white, orange, orange, yellow, white. Red, green, blue, white, white, yellow, orange, blue, white.
Okay, now rotate the cube so that the face towards you has an orange square in the centre, and the face on top has a white square in the centre. And read out the colours of the nine squares facing you, from top left to bottom right. Stop. Okay, there you go.
You just have to read out each cube face. Now, when it says put the white one near you, then rotate it so that the blue one's on the top. What she's saying is that, say you're holding the cube up in front of you, the white face was facing your face, and the blue dot, the face with the blue dot in the middle, was up towards the ceiling. That's what she means each time.
So, once you've read out all the faces, then she will walk you through how to turn each face until you've solved the cube. And guess what? It's in 20 moves or less, if you can believe it. 20 moves or less is what the skill says.
It's a shame we can't demo it, but after doing five faces out of six, we gave up yesterday because it was just too painful. So, there you go. Cube solver. Give it a go.
So, if you are desperate to complete the Rubik's Cube, Faith can actually do it in literally a matter of seconds. Anyway, Cube solver. Enjoy a speaking game tomorrow. Feedback, comments, demos.
