Hey, how's it going? Happy New Year, happy 2021 and welcome to Dot2Dot. My name's Sean and today I'm going to revisit a skill that we have looked at before on Dot2Dot, but it was a while ago. But you know what, as it is the new year and everyone wants to better themselves self-improvement, whether that's fitness or mentally, then I think actually this is a great skill to look at.
It's timely. So here we go. Here's the skill headspace, guided meditation for everybody by Headspace. Welcome to Headspace.
We're meditation made simple with exercises to help you stress less, focus more and feel happier. Log in to get access to all of our available exercises. You can either create a new account, connect an existing one or start meditating now. What would you like to do?
Okay, let's pause it there for a minute before we start meditating. Let's find out about what extras you get if you do subscribe. You can just say, unlock meditations. Subscribing to Headspace unlocks the full Headspace library.
You'll be able to access hundreds of guided meditations, as well as soothing bedtime music. And on the Headspace app or website, you can do quick exercises that help you make daily activities more mindful, like cooking, eating or commuting. Plus, there are meditations made specially for kids. I've sent a message to your alert, the app that will help to create or connect an account.
Would you like to begin today's meditation? Okay, again, I've muted the mic so she can't hear me, which is pause for a second. So what you get with the free skill, if you like using Headspace without subscribing, is a free daily meditation, which we'll take a listen to in a second, or a 10 minute guided sleep meditation, or 10 minutes of sleep music, which may be or you need. But obviously, if you do subscribe, you get lots more.
Anyway, let's try the daily meditation. A common misconception is that meditation is about controlling the mind, and yet that couldn't be further from the truth. Meditation is about letting go, intentionally setting the mind free, almost inevitably, when we first sit down to meditate, we assume that there is something to do. That's how we've lived our entire life thinking that there is something to do, something that we have to achieve to try very hard at to get some kind of result.
And it's a process of time in which we realize that actually meditation has nothing to do with any of that. A stop. How relaxing was that guy's voice? It was amazing.
And that's a key point here. The audio quality is superb. Let's take a quick listen at the other free meditations. I'll just open Headspace again.
Open Headspace. Would you like to begin today's meditation? We've done that already, but you can say guided sleep meditation. Here's your 10 minute sleep exercise.
Welcome to Headspace on sleep. And to this guided exercise. Now, before you do anything at all, I'd just like you to take a moment. Just to get comfortable lying in your bed or wherever it is.
You want to fall asleep. A stop. Okay. Hope to see you again soon.
I was going to fall asleep there. Now, if you do want to subscribe and get much more content, then obviously there is a price to that. The price is £50 for a year of subscription or a 10 or a month if you want to go monthly. So it's definitely a considered purchase.
But then again, if it helps you, maybe it's worth every penny. That was Headspace. Check it out. Feedback comments demos.
