Yacht-to-Dot. With 85-minute skill devotion. For everyone who's simply dotting a dot, Alexa. Hey guys, today we are looking at a skill called Amazing Queens of the Amazon Tribe.
Amazonians were fierce fighting warrior-resses, and you hear all kinds of stories like, to become better archers, they actually would remove a breast to allow them to draw their bows more easily and fire the arrows. And I've just listened to one thing, fact, from this skill, which was equally as eye-opening, but let's fire it up. So open Amazing Queens. Okay, here's Amazing Queens of the Amazon Tribe.
Amazing Amazon Queens. I think it's supposed to be Penthecilia. So open Amazing Queens. Amazing Amazon Queens, Hermomia was the first queen of the Amazons.
She was a nymph who lived in the Aemomian Forest near the Thurmondon River, which is today north-east in Turkey. Hermomia was seduced by the god Ores, the god of war. Their daughters became the first members of the Amazon Tribe. That must be part of Amazonian lore, because the Amazonian warrior, you know, warriors, warrior princesses maybe, were real.
So maybe that's part of their lore, their origin story. So open Amazing Queens. Amazing Amazon Queens. Hippolyta is the most legendary of the Amazon Queens.
The knife labour of Hercules was to steal the belt of Hippolyta. The Amazon Queen Hippolyta freely gave her belt to Hercules to help him complete his quest, but was accidentally killed by Hercules during this exchange. The scene of Hippolyta offering her belt to Hercules is a common theme in Greek art and literature. Hmm.
Maybe I'm getting confused, because this is all about lore. Okay, I'm sure that's supposed to be Hippolyta. Oh, the f***s, open Amazing Queens. Amazing Amazon Queens.
Otero was a great Amazon Queen. She recognised the need for the Amazons to increase their population. Once per year, at a festival organised for this purpose, the Amazons would mate with the men of the Gargarians, keeping for themselves all the female children born to these unions, and returning the male children to the Gargarian tribe. It's usually the opposite, isn't it?
Oh, the f***s, open Amazing Queens. Amazing Amazon Queens. Thalistris was the last queen of the Amazons tribe. During her reign, she attempted to conceive a child with Alexander the Great during his campaign against Persia.
Queen Thalistris slept with Alexander for 13 days and nights, but was unsuccessful in conceiving a child. Thalistris is the last Amazon Queen in the historical record. After her reign as Amazon Queen, the Amazon tribe merged with the Scythians. Yeah, you see, half of these are based in historical facts, and the other half are just frankly weird from Greek mythology.
But maybe the legends go far back, but they were an actual tribe. Well, I know they were an actual people. We'll do one more. And the f***s are open, Amazing Queens.
Amazing Amazon Queens. Velasca was an evil queen of the Amazons tribe. She used her power to impose strength, cruelty and treachery on the Amazons tribe and other inhabitants of the Pontus region. Remembered as a cruel tyrant, Velasca removed the right eye and both thumbs of all captorted male warriors, rendering them useless in battle.
Captorted. We'll do one more. I like to open Amazing Queens. Amazing Amazon Queens, Pentisylea became queen of the Amazons tribe upon the death of Morpidea.
She was known for her fierce dedication to being an Amazons warrior queen. She was highly skilled with weapons and was also very wise and beautiful. She reigned as queen during the Trojan War. When Achilles killed the Trojan prince Hector, the Amazons tribe sent warriors to the Venge's death.
Pentisylea was committed to a glorious death on the battlefield. She died honorably from a harmonious blow delivered by the sword of Achilles. He publicly mourned the death of Pentisylea and pronounced her his equal in battle. What's a harmonious blow?
From a sword? I'm confused. I think... I don't know.
I don't know what to think. This is Robin signing off. And we'll speak in tomorrow. Ah, is it over already?
That wasn't long enough. I'm Sean. And if you want more Echo Steel goodness, why not check out the Echo Show podcast, where we go hands-on with even more Echo Skills and let you know exactly what we think of them. That's the Echo Show podcast available in your favorite podcast app.
