Yacht to Dot. With 85 minutes, we'll demo show. For everyone who's simply dotting about Alexa. Hey guys, Robin here.
Today we are going to look at how you can listen to Audible content on your A-Lady. Now, why am I doing this? Well, because every single day, as you know, for nearly two months now I've been asking what's free from Audible, and it's always the same thing. So this is the longest time it's taken them to refresh the monthly batch of free audiobooks from Audible, but you can say what's free from Audible, and she gives you three.
Three full titles. It's supposed to be each month, but hey-ho. So, in the absence of that, let's look at how you can listen to your Audible books. So you need an Audible subscription, obviously, to listen to Audible titles, and they come in different flavours.
I go for the prepaid one thingamabob. What is it? Token? No.
Okay, mind freeze. Credit a month. And if you prepay that, then it's slightly less. Otherwise, I think it's $7.99 a month.
I can't remember. But for a decent length audiobook, I think that's an absolute bargain. But once you have your Audible subscription, and maybe even beforehand, I'm not sure, but you can look in the app for free stuff, and there's absolutely tons of free stuff. And once you've identified a free title, you can either start listening to it there, and then obviously, because it syncs with the A-Lady, you can then just say, play my audiobook on the A-Lady, and it will pick up exactly where you left off on your phone.
Or, once you've just spotted a title, you don't even have to add it there. You can just ask the A-Lady to play it. So, for example, a moment ago, I said, A-Lady, play the Beatrix Potter collection. And she said, she confirmed, is that the Beatrix Potter collection by Beatrix Potter?
Yes. And then she said, you can listen to this title free from Audible. I have added it to your Audible library. And you can start listening to it now when, in fact, it started playing.
So, let's quickly pick that up. So I can either say, A-Lady, play the Beatrix Potter collection from Audible, or I can just say, play, because I literally just paused it. A-Lady, play. Audible Studios presents the Beatrix Potter collection, written by Beatrix Potter, and by Andrew Scott, with an introduction read by Patricia Radcliffe.
Patricia Radcliffe, she's a British institution. First and foremost, I must confess that I was not brought up on Beatrix Potter's little books. A-Lady, play. The illustrations were absolutely amazing.
And it's a bit like those Happy Families cards. Have you ever seen those? Where you've got the, I don't know, frog family and the fox family and stuff, and it's exactly the same kind of illustrations. So, yeah, there's absolutely tons of free stuff on Audible.
Now, it's not that easy to discover it. You really need to do that from the website or the app, because if you say what's free from Audible, then, you know, as we discussed before, you are limited in your response. But we're also going to talk about Audible Stories, and this is a skill. Obviously, first party, because Amazon own Audible.
But when we open it up, it'll say, it'll ask us to start listening from, pick up from where I left off, because I was listening to a story. But we'll see what else we can get. Alexa, open Audible Stories. Welcome back to Audible Stories.
You were listening to when we got there last time. There are 56 minutes and 45 seconds remaining. Would you like to continue? No.
Okay, what type of story would you like? Help. The Audible Stories skill lets you listen for free to short stories performed by world-class narrators. You can choose among different types, for example, horror, mystery, sci-fi, or kids.
You can also ask me for a random story. While listening, you can say we start to listen to a story from the beginning. What would you like to do? Mystery.
Okay, you were listening to the break last time. There are 54 minutes and 9 seconds remaining. Would you like to continue? Yes.
Okay, I'll continue playing the break. Forgotten how stifling this house can be. Freshers' term was not the best weeks of my life, as I'd been promised. I tried to develop a love for two-for-one club nights.
Tried to find within myself a desire to become mentally incapacitated in unfamiliar surroundings. But I failed. And the disconnect does not make me feel superior, so much as far-flung and hopeless. I'll f*** the stop.
If I'd have said no to resuming that, then I'm sure it would have given me a list of suggested titles in mystery. Cool. There you go. Particularly good for people that don't like really long titles.
I do. The longer the better. If it's a good book, of course. Great.
