Dr. Dot, the daily five minute skilled emotion. For everyone who's simply dotting about Alexa. Hey guys, we're in here.
Today we are looking at something that was flagged in recent email, Friday email from the A-Lady guys at Amazon and it's about food preferences. And wouldn't it be brilliant if you can store your food preferences so in future when you ask for recipes, et cetera, she just ignores ones that aren't, you know, things that you can have if you're dairy intolerant, for example, or in my case, pesky, so no meat. Let's go, go. Alexa, open food preferences.
To manage your food preferences, go to Alexa preferences in the settings section of the Alexa app. Okay, then I'll open it up and we'll be back in a second. Okay, then so I'm in the app, I'm tapping on more, but then I'm scrolling down a bit and tapping on settings. And in there, there is an item called food and recipes I tapped on that.
And there's a new item called dietary, dietary preferences to get tailored, recipe, and cooking suggestions for you and your family. So I'm tapping on dietary preferences. And in here, we have items like vegan, Pescatarian, keto, kosher, gluten-free, low sodium, low sugar, low carb, dairy-free, peanut-free, red meat-free, shellfish-free, fish-free, egg-free, and nut-free. So I'm going to choose Pescatarian and I'm gonna tap on save.
Now it says dietary preferences is set to Pescatarian, and I'm pretty sure you could add others there. It's not just one, you could probably add several, because you might want to be a Pescatarian and also, I don't know, low salt, for example. Okay, then so we've done that, that's been saved. So now let's ask her if she knows my food preferences.
A little bit. So what are my food preferences? You've told me that you're Pescatarian. You can manage your food preferences in your l- Xab.
Cool, and so I'm assuming now, if we ask her for a recipe suggestion, then she won't say anything with meat. And that's a, give me a dinner recipe suggestion. Okay, for dinner, based on your food preferences, I recommend best your puttings from BBC Good Food, 25 minutes to make. What would you like?
Start recipe, send it to your phone, or hear next recipe. Next. Next is sea bass with sizzle ginger, chilions bring onions from BBC Good Food, 25 minutes to make, serve six. You can say, start recipe, center phone, or next.
Next. Next is pizza margarita in four easy steps from BBC Good Food in 35 minutes to make. You can say, start recipe, center phone, or next. Stop.
Cool. I had the most amazing pizza in Italian restaurant last night. It was feta cheese, garlic, and onion. Oh, it was good.
Really good. Cool. There you go guys. No longer will we be given suggestions that aren't to our preference.
Good stuff. Thanks guys. Speak in tomorrow. Feedback comments demos.
