Doctor. The Daily Five Minute Skilled Emotion for everyone who's simply dotting about Alexa. Hey guys, we're in here. Today we are revisiting a skill that we first covered over 1400 episodes ago and it was recently flagged in the weekly newsletter, which tells you hints and tips and things to try with the A-Lady.
And Richard Osman, the host of Pointless, which is what we're talking about here, the Game Show, is my favourite author, instantly favourite author as soon as the Thursday murder club came out, which was in 2020. And there was a sequel, The Man Who Died Twice, the last year. And the bullet that missed is coming up in a few months. I think it said September.
I've pre-ordered that one as well. The third one in the series is coming up as well. So, yeah, lots of good reasons to revisit Pointless. The idea of the game is to get the answer with the lowest points, but still a valid answer.
It took me a while to tweak that because I didn't watch the show. A little bit open, pointless. This is the music from the show. Hello there.
I'm Alexander Armstrong and welcome to Pointless. The aim of the game is to score the lowest number of points possible. To do this, you must find the most obscure, correct answer. If you ever want to hear the full rules of the game, just say, help, at any time.
It is, of course, my Pointless friend, Richard Osman. Thank you, Zandere. We've got some fantastic questions to test everyone at home today. Thanks for that, Richard.
Today's category is geography. Are you ready to play Pointless? Yes. Okay, so it did explain it there.
I said, question one. I didn't tweak the first time. Yes. Okay, let's move on with question two.
Okay. Name any London Underground station that is on the Metropolitan Line. Just say, allow the answer when you're ready. I don't know.
I don't know. I don't know. Let's go with... I really don't know.
If you need more time, just say, give me more time. What's your answer? Old Street. Old Street.
Is that your final answer? Yes. Okay, let's see if that's right. And if so, let's see how many of our 100 people said it.
Oh my goodness. That's called your 100 points. You could have had Liverpool Street for two points. Or West Harrow, which was Pointless.
That makes your total so far. 200. Right. Are you ready for the next question?
Yes. I don't know if I'm wrong. Time for today's final question. Well, it's pretty popular.
Name any US state that is smaller than England in terms of total land area. Just say, like, Alexa, and the answer when you're ready. Er... Alexa?
New York? New York. Is that your final answer? Yes.
Okay, let's see if that's right. And if so, let's see how many of our 100 people said it. You score 28 points. Very low score for that answer.
Well done. You could have had Ohio for 18 points. Or Louisiana for five points. Well...
That makes your total score for today. 228. Did you know you can advance to the final round and compete on our world wide leaderboard with Pointless premium. Would you like to hear more?
No. That's all for today, folks. Don't forget to play again tomorrow. So, it's goodbye from Richard.
Goodbye. And it's goodbye from our assistant. Goodbye. Goodbye.
Goodbye. Thank you, know your music. Try saying open sunglass. Okay.
So, I think this is updated from the last time I looked at it because it wasn't plugging a premium option last time. So, I'll mark this episode as updated. And, wow, did I do badly there? Er, I have appalling general knowledge in most areas, including geography.
And, obviously, London Underground Station. So, to get 100 points, I guess it was a wrong answer. Cool. There you go.
So, er, yeah, Pointless. But, Richard Osman, absolutely brilliant brilliant books. And, by the way, I have carried on asking the A-lady what's free from Audible. And it's still telling us the same titles, great expectations, et cetera.
The portrait of Dorian Gray. And that has been the case since, certainly, early Feb, if not Jan. So, months and months, they've really dropped the ball on that one. Orky-laky guys.
This is Robin signing off. And we'll talk again tomorrow. Feedback comments demos. The.dot-to.podcast at gmail.com.
