Hello and welcome to another Dr. Dot podcast. My name's Sean and today, well, grab your cod piece, oil up your pecs because we're gonna get our fantasy hack and slash on. Now you may remember recently I looked at another skill called Starship, which in itself was basically just a demo of the combat system of a much bigger game coming soon to the echo.
Well, this is pretty much the same thing. This is a demo, a taster, a proof of concept, if you will, of the combat system for a much larger, multiplayer, fantasy, dungeon, dragon style, RPG game coming in the future. It's a way for developers to see how well their combat system works and to make any changes and get feedback from you. So the full finished game can be as good as it can be.
Anyway, let's just jump into it. Oh, sir, open basic battle. Welcome. In basic battle, you explore in battle monsters.
Are you ready to play? Yes. Choose a profession to begin your adventure. Are you a warrior, a spellcaster or a scout?
Hmm, warrior. You chose warrior. You are level three with strength three, accuracy three, defense three, but also three. Is that good?
And your attacks are sword and shield. Is this the profession you want? Yes. I mean, three out of one.
Oh, mighty warrior. Your journey begins. Your village has recently suffered relentless attacks from well-armed bandits, desperate goblins, and worse. And only the tireless efforts of the village guardian have kept your people safe.
Yes. Having finally been acknowledged by your teachers after years of training, perhaps you can lend a hand. You have three potions and 100 coins. You are at the village.
There are a healer and an item shop. You can leave through the gate. You can say battle to challenge someone or say explore for options. What do you do?
Go to gates. The mysterious guardian of the village blocks your path with a raised hand. Hey. Hello, friend.
Hello. As a guardian of the village, I must ask you to halt. Speak to me if you really want to leave the safety of the village. She turns away.
Rude. You are at the village with a guardian. There are a healer and an item shop. You can leave through the gate.
What now? Talk to guardian. The guardian stands between you and the gate and calls out. Greetings to you, warrior.
As a guardian of the village, I have been fostered by villages from leaving town until we have some volunteers to handle the dangers lurking at our doorstep. What accent is that? Before I can let you through the gate. I need you to prove your skill by defeating three peasants.
Say battle to get their attention. And it will challenge you. If you are injured, just save your knee and a healer will tend to your wounds. Talk to me when you have proven yourself.
Good luck. What now? Battle. A level one warrior challenges you.
Choose sword, shield, items, or run. What now? OK. Let's just pause it there for one second.
Now, take note. It's said there that a warrior had challenged me to battle. And remember, the guardian said I need to fight three peasants, not warriors. You could fight a warrior and get experience points and whatever else.
That's fine. But it's not going to help you get out of the village. So I say, let's run. You escaped.
You are at the village with the guardian. There are a healer and an item shop. You can leave through the gate. What now?
Let's try again. Battle. A level one peasant challenges you. Choose sword, shield, items, or run.
What now? Sword. Your sword hit for 65 damage. The peasants punch hit for one damage.
Nothing. You are annoyed. They are breached. What now?
Um, sword. Your sword hit for 90 damage. The peasants punch hit for one damage. You are annoyed.
They are breached. What now? Sword hit for 75 damage. The peasants punch hit for one damage.
Your enemy passed out. If. You win. You got 21 coins.
And you gained 100 XV. You are at the village with the guardian. There are a healer and an item shop. You can leave through the gate.
What now? Heal me. You have been healed back up to 210 health. So, what you've defeated three peasants?
What now? Talk to guardian. The guardian laughs proudly. Ah, well done.
You have defeated three peasants and proven your might. You are free to leave through the gate. And with you out there, I know we can make this land safe again. I must leave to seek out the sauce of these dangers.
The what? Sauce. If we meet again, come speak with me and show me how you've grown. She turns away.
What now? Leave through gate. You leave the village. You are at the hills with the monk.
You can leave through the gate or north. What now? Talk to monk. The monk smiles and tips his hat.
Then asks. Hello, dear friend. Can you help a lowly wandering monk and bring me three potions? I want to try and experiment.
If it goes well, I'll have something wonderful to give you in return. Let me know when you have them all. You should be able to buy them in town if you have enough coins. Thanks and advance.
He turns away. What now? Right, that's it. Where is this place?
Thanks in advance. They're very posh here. Anyway, the potions just give you some more health. So when you're in a battle, you can take a potion and boost your health.
I haven't used any yet. I think I've already got three. So I'm going to try. Give potion to monk.
The monk smiles and tips his hat. Dear friend, I see you have enough potions for my experiment. Please, may I have three potions so I can get started? He stares and waits for your answer.
Will you help the monk? Yes. The monk rins and scoops the potions up in his hat. Thank you, dear friend.
From the bottom of my heart. Now just sit back and relax a bit. Ah, don't kill me. He adds a small pellet to one of the potions.
Which dissolves and causes the liquid inside to steam and shrink down. The monk laughs with joy and pours the other two potions into the first, resulting in a condensed, more viscous liquid. He turns for you with a huge smile. We've done it, friend.
Here, I want you to have this. The first miracle drink. You gain one miracle drink. The monk turns away.
What now? Whoa, I don't know what a miracle drink does. I'm assuming it can bring you back to life if you get killed. Who knows?
We'll find out. Anyway, let's go. North. You don't North.
You are at the forest with a guardian. Whoa, Cooey! You can leave through the south or west. What now?
Talk to guardian. The guardian greets you warmly. Hail. So we meet again, warrior.
Now, show me how much you've grown. Come back to me after you've defeated three of those pesky sprites here in the forest and I will train you to help you bring out your hidden potential. She turns away. What now?
She's so violent. Okay, let's do it. Battle. Really loud.
Level 9, Oga challenges you. That's not a sprite. And level 9 doesn't sound good. She was sword, shield, items, or run.
What now? Oh, let's do it. Sword. Your sword mist.
The Oga's club hit for 167 damage. Whoa! You are dazed. What now?
Hmm, let me think. Run! You escaped. You are the forest with the guardian.
You can leave through the south or west. What now? I think that's enough for now. Stop.
Okay, see you next time. So there you go. There's about four or five different locations you can play around with. But for me, I really enjoyed it.
