TRANSCRIPT · AUTO-GENERATED

dot dot dot, the daily five minute skill devotion, where everyone can simply dot eat without an accent. Hey guys, we're running here today. We are going to look at a skill from Imperial College London. It's called Making Space.

It's full title in the skill store is E3 Making Space. That's E, let it E, number three, switch together, E3 Making Space, not sure why. But it's designed for you and someone else, a partner, for example, to sit together and I think it's about sharing thoughts or at least being able to find a space mentally to address your feelings good and bad. I'm not sure if it's an interactive thing with your partner, but it certainly only works if you say two names at the beginning.

I've tried just saying Robin and it doesn't like it at all. So you have to say two names you'll see. So it's definitely meant as a combined exercise. So open making space.

Okay, who would be doing the exercise today? Please say your names one after another. For example, Mary and Tony. Mary and Tony.

Welcome, Mary and Teddy. This making space exercise encourages you to make space for thoughts running through your mind. Become an observer of your thoughts as you notice them non judgmentally. If you are both ready, shall we begin?

Yes. Sit in an upright but comfortable position with your spine straight. You may wish to gently close your eyes or gaze softly ahead. Gently close your eyes.

Don't force them down. Take a few deep breaths, noticing the breath sensations as you inhale and exhale. The breath is always available in the practice. If you need to come back to the present moment.

Begin by visualizing a flowing stream with leaves floating along the surface of the water. Place each thought that enters your mind on a leaf and watch it as it floats by. You are simply observing it with curiosity as it floats away, becoming aware of the times when you are immersed in thought and congratulating yourself for noticing. Nothing is coming into my head at all.

And then gently returning to observing thoughts as leaves passing by on a stream. I think we'll leave it there. Do this with each thought. Whether they are joyful, painful or neutral.

Allow the possibility of watching thoughts go by like leaves on a stream. This session is now ending. Be back. Comments.
