Dubmentalist - Artefacts

A longtime bass music activist, Dubmentalist has gradually carved out a sound that feels unmistakably his own. Working with dubstep the way a sculptor works with raw material, he shapes the genre into intricate, tactile forms. His productions are resolutely multidimensional: flickering micro-details shimmer in the high end, ghostly pads drift in the distance, while percussive strikes and looming basslines step forward with physical presence. Across these four tracks, composed for Noizion, Dubmentalist invites the listener into a strange and carefully contoured terrain. The landscape feels cut with surgical precision—sharp ridges, deep shadows, and sudden shafts of light coexisting in uneasy harmony. It’s music that operates on several levels at once: cerebral yet visceral, designed for the mind, the eardrums, and the body in equal measure
