E-hailing operators face mounting strain as sharp fuel price hikes threaten their livelihoods and profit margins. The increases are expected to drive up fares and weaken demand, adding pressure on commuters already battling transport costs. Industry players warn that without intervention, both drivers and passengers could feel the impact of a deepening affordability crisis. We spoke to National E-hailing Federation of South Africa (NEFSA) National Spokesperson, Tella Masakale.
