We don't fear change, we fear what we stand to lose as a result of change. Similarly, we don't fear the unknown as much as we're afraid that we may not have the capacity to handle what's around the corner. So, when we're talking about change, we're really talking about loss, and when we're talking about the unknown, we're really talking about how equipped we feel to prevent or handle future losses. Since we can't talk about building our capacity for change and uncertainty without talking about loss, conversations about change are really conversations about grief.
