Employers Have Too Much Power

from Women Making Moves

We have a problem...today, there is no law against anyone abusing someone mentally or emotionally in the workplace. Deb Falzoi, Founder of Dignity Together and the "End Workplace Abuse" movement, explores this topic with me and what is missing in today's society as it relates to psychological safety - specifically in the workplace.Deb and thousands of others have created a movement to introduce the Workplace Psychological Safety Act into legislation, beginning in Massachusetts. The goal is to drive momentum behind the movement and begin passing the Act in many key states across the nation. There is a basic dignity that a human being should expect upon entering the workplace and this Act will enable an organizational head to hold employers accountable where abuse has occurred.Today there is nothing and no one enforcing employers to act upon abuse, and further there is no law for precedent if an employee tries to go the legal route. So, upon filing a complaint, the individual is on their own. Please join the movement, and sign the petition no matter which state you live in - https://dignitytogether.org or https://workplacepsychologicalsafetyact.org to see progress and to get involved in the act.To receive episode updates for Women Making Moves, be sure to "follow" on your favorite platform as well as on Bluesky.
