ENbalance with Luke Wadsworth
from ENbalance · host Emma Nedov
Luke Wadsworth is a former elite artistic gymnast who has represented Australia at 3 World Championships and 2 Commonwealth Games. He now runs his own adult gymnastics gym called Peak and is always on the hunt for ways to stay fit and healthy whether that's running marathons or training for an Iron Man. In this episode, Luke and I talk a lot about the technical elements of gymnastics, the fundamentals, and the quirky things we used to do at training or competitions to make sure we 'felt' prepared. We touch on the importance of coach and peer support and the fears of learning scary skills at a young age. We have a good laugh as I find myself relating to so many of the things he speaks about. Luke attributes a lot to gymnastics and his career which has led him down the path of coaching. We speak about the life skills we have gained and how we apply them to 'post-sport' life, which was a difficult transition for us both. It's a funny story of how Luke and I became friends, and one I am so grateful for. Luke is so knowledgeable in gymnastics as both an athlete and a coach and has created a community of people who have a passion for movement. He has experienced disappointments and failures in his career as with any elite gymnast but what I love about 'Wadsy' is his never-ending positivity and enthusiastic outlook on life and its possibilities. Please enjoy us having a chat about all things gymnastics and what Luke has created for himself in his life after sport.
