Enjoy listening to Psalms 13 to 15

from Wisdom in Proverbs · host Mara Do Nascimento Martins

The book of Psalms is a book of prayer and hymns from the Bible. It contains worship songs that have been composed over a long period of Israel's history. Between the years of 1000 to 333 BC, and several authors wrote them, they were used by the people of Israel in the meetings of worship to God. Some psalms have in their title the attribution of that psalm to a certain author like David, Solomon, Moses, Asaph, other psalms in turn do not mention who would have written them. Themes such as praise and worship to God, prayers, requests for help, intercession on behalf of the king, songs to encourage people to do good, pleas for the Lord to ward off enemies, compositions that describe God's infinite grandeur or mercy , among others are themes that are in the texts. Parallelism is characterized by the repetition of ideas, and is the poetic form generally used in them, where they maintain their meaning and change only a few words or stanzas. The richness of comparisons and depth of feelings guarantee the beauty of the psalms and make it possible for a worshiper to identify himself at any time: depths of the soul, hopes, trials, losses and gains, victories, resignation, worship, repentance, gratitude, outcry in sickness, sense of justice, and all manner of human longing. Jesus Christ himself, son of God, a central figure in Christianity, used Psalms during his ministry. For example, in answering Satan's temptations when he was in the desert, “Jesus replied,“ Man will not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God ”(Ps 4: 4); and when he clarified to the disciples after his resurrection that the path that Jesus should take as the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world was determined “and he said to them: thus it is written that Christ was to suffer and rise from the dead on the third day” (Luke 24:46) Among the 150 psalms, those that have become popular are 23 “1 The Lord is my shepherd; I will lack nothing ”, the 91“ 7 thousand will fall by your side, ten thousand on your right but you will not be hit ”; and 121 “2 My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth”; among others.
