Barney joined the British Army in 2005 and served for 8 years with the Royal Irish Regiment.In this episode he talks about growing up and the influence this had on him joining the army; what it was like going through basic training and his first couple of operational tours in Afghanistan, along with his experience of training out in Kenya.Barney also shares a multitude of career courses he completed, plus his 3rd operational tour in Afghanistan, where he unfortunately stepped on an IED which changed his life.
