Ep. 100: Evelyn McDonnell: Women Who Rock Interview
from Muses · host Muses
The Muses celebrate episode 100 by getting to know writer Evelyn McDonnell and discussing her latest book, Women Who Rock: Bessie to Beyonce, Girl Groups to Riot Grrrl! Women Who Rock features over 100 amazing artists and is written by a collective of incredible women. If that weren’t enough, each artist gets their own gorgeous illustration, all created by extremely talented female artists. One of our favourite additions to the book was a playlist suggestion to go along with each chapter. We read, we listened, we learned about old favourites and discovered new artists that are now in rotation on our own playlists. We simply cannot recommend this book enough and it was such a pleasure to discuss Evelyn’s impressive career with her. Oh and from this book has spawned a new activist collective called Turn it Up! which advocates for gender parity in the music industry including airplay, media coverage and employment. How kick ass is that?? You can purchase Women Who Rock on Amazon or where ever books are sold! You can find Evelyn on twitter at twitter.com/evelynmcdonnell & Instagram at instagram.com/msladyevelyn You can find us on Twitter, Instagram & Facebook.
