Ep. 14: What Does It Mean to Be Holy?

from The Calibration Podcast · host Clay Cartwright

What does it actually mean to be holy?In this episode, Clay wrestles with the biblical call to be “set apart” — not through religious branding, moral superiority, or louder opinions, but through visible Christlikeness. Looking at the fruit of the Spirit, the Sermon on the Mount, and Jesus’ call to be salt and light, this episode asks a pointed question: can the watching world actually see a difference in us?If Christians are called to be known by love, joy, patience, truthfulness, self-control, and mercy, then holy living may be one of the clearest forms of evangelism. Not because we are perfect, but because a transformed life gives credibility to the message we proclaim. This is a call to move beyond “I’m just a sinner saved by grace” and “it’s not rules, it’s relationship” when those phrases become excuses for shallow discipleship. Grace does not lower the call to become like Christ.Holiness is not about looking religious. It is about becoming the kind of people who make the goodness of God visible.
