Ep 2: Camp Crafted--Baptist Minister to Home Bartender [Suzanah Raffield]

from Beyond Religion · host Elizabeth Lott

Suzanah Raffield is Baptist Minister turned Home Bartender. She and her wife, Rhonda Stringfellow, are the creators and owners of Camp Craft Cocktails. Camp began with popsicles, a 1969 camper food truck, and a cross country road trip. After towing thousands of their handcrafted Bold City Pops in their vintage camper to the 2016 Desert Trip music festival in California, Suzanah and Rhonda knew they wanted to build even more community, so they deconstructed favorite pop recipes to pivot toward a shippable product. The concept of working in community was ignited during their years as camp staff. Distilling down all that they loved from their tenure as camp directors to the perfect name and mission for their business, Camp Craft Cocktails was born on I-10, with flavors that beg to be shared, and a soul for creating community. Camp is more than cocktails-- it’s a mission to build longer tables where everyone is welcome, and everyone belongs. Find Camp Craft Cocktails here: https://www.campcraftcocktails.com and here: https://www.instagram.com/campcraftcocktails/ In this episode, we get kinda churchy and use some insider language. You'll hear SBC and CBF, both Baptist demominations of our younger years--Southern Baptist Convention and Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. We also name beloved missionaries of the 19th century: Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong. Additionally, you'll hear university, seminary, and church names. Whether you're familiar with Baptist life or not, there are still lots of places to connect in Suzanah's story. Jump in and let us know what you think!
