Ep 238 | The Panama Mission Trip

from NorthWoods Church Matters · host NorthWoods Church

In this episode of the NorthWoods Church Matters podcast, Pastor Matt sits down with Missions Pastor Ryan Moore and seasoned mission partner Diane Edwards to reflect on their recent mission trip to Panama. Joined by a team including members from Northwood and Community Central, the group worked to minister to the indigenous people in the Cherokee province. Listen in as they share stories of evangelism, spiritual breakthroughs, and the joy of seeing God at work in unexpected ways—from door-to-door fvisits and public school assemblies to spontaneous gospel conversations at the airport. Highlights include a touching encounter with a young boy, the creative ways the team overcame language and cultural barriers, and the inspiring efforts of local Panamanians like Joel, a young man pursuing God's call to missions. You'll also hear practical encouragement for anyone considering a future mission trip—why age, language, or planning hiccups shouldn't stop you from going—and ways the Northwood family can continue supporting the Newsomes and the work in Panama through prayer, giving, and going.

Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
