Rita Cucchiara è una delle massime esperte italiane nel campo dell'intelligenza artificiale. Rita Cucchiara, classe 1965, laureata in Ingegneria Elettronica nel 1989 a Bologna, università dove ha poi conseguito un dottorato in ingegneria Informatica, dal 2005 è Professore Ordinario di Sistemi di Elaborazione dell’Informazione presso l’Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia. Qui conduce il Laboratorio Aimagelab e la "AI Academy" occupandosi di Visione Artificiale e Deep Learning, tematiche in cui vanta più di 400 pubblicazioni. Membro del Consiglio dell’IIT (Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia), dal 2018 Cucchiara è direttrice del CINI (Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per l'Informatica) e del Laboratorio Nazionale AIIS – Artificial Intelligence for Intelligent Systems. Insieme a Laura Margheri è una delle due italiane scelte da RoboHub fra le venticinque donne più influenti nel campo della robotica. Cucchiara è una delle massime esperte nel campo della visone artificiale i cui studi vengono applicati alla robotica.
