EP 384: Braxton McCoy; Breaking Colts, War, Life, and Hunting

from The Rich Outdoors · host Cody Rich: Hunting Podcaster, Outdoorsman, Adventure Seeker

I first was introduced to Braxton McCoy via the Blood Origins Crew. They had just shot a video with Braxton and were telling me all about this fascinating character. They were not wrong, in this episode of the podcast Braxton and I bob and weave through more than a few rabbit holes like any good conversation, but in the end, it was one of those podcasts that make me really love doing the podcast. Braxton is a Horse Trainer by trade, though he would struggle to make that claim himself. An average small-town guy who rode bulls as kid and joined the fight right after 9/11. Braxton was eager to kick some ass but on his first deployment was blown up and got a whole lot of life lessons real fast. After years of recovery and pushing himself past where doctors said he would ever be, Braxton fell back in love with what he was truly meant to do. Breaking horses is probably the last thing Braxton should really be doing but its what makes him happy. I truly enjoyed this conversation and Braxton is one hell of a guy. To get the full story, please do me a favor and go buy his book The Glass Factory on his website braxtonmccoy.com. A story about a war hero and how to overcome your own challenges. I like the line “What I learned getting blown up so you don’t have to”. You will have to listen to the podcast to get the story behind that title.
