In this interview, we meet Travis - aka I.T. Official - a talented rapper with a passion for encouraging people through music. Growing up Travis found his love for rap when his 4th grade teacher gave him homework assignments to write poetry. As he fell more in love with music, the culture of gangster rap inspired him to pen darker lyrics and live them out, falling into a lifestyle he had never intended. But through professional failure and debilitating sickness, God woke Travis up to the fleeting nature of his path. As he learned to be real with God, Travis discovered a community of godly men, the power to quit his addictions, and the true purpose of his gifts. Travis' inspiring story will show you that God wants to use your talents for so much more than you can imagine, but it takes your surrender to Him first. Thanks for watching. Cheers to the journey! ATHEISTS FOR JESUS: Rescuing Jesus from the Bible Kenneth A. Schei NOTE: NEW EPISODES OF "RESCUING JESUS (AND AMERICA) FROM THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT" ARE NOW AVAILABLE.Hello, my name is Ken Schei, I'm the founder and President of "Atheists for Jesus". And yes, as the name implies, I am an atheist for Jesus. Now, I'm sure that most of you are asking: "Just what in the heck is an Atheist for Jesus?" Fair enough! I realize that this may well appear to be a contradiction of terms, so I'd best start out by defining my use of these terms.First of all, what I mean by the term "Atheist", is that I do not believe that any deity is probable, nor do I believe that any deity that I have ever heard of is possible. Secondly, when I say that I am "for Jesus", I do not mean to imply in any way that I have converted to Christianity or that I now believe Jesus to be a god. What I do mean is that I have come to have a great deal of respect for the teachings of Jesus. My respect for Jesus is not based on the Cross, but rather on the Mount--not on His death and supposed God's Word, Today's World Dan Van Werkhoven There never seems enough time to study the Bible these days. Because I dunno about you, but my life could be described as hectic, busy, and going-a-million-miles-an-hour-with-no-sign-of-slowing-down. And a busy life sucks when we want to dig into God’s word and get to know what the Bible teaches. I mean, it can take hours of intense study just to cover one chapter of the Bible! And when there are 1,189 chapters in the Bible, that’s a lot of study! While nothing substitutes one-on-one time with God through prayer and reading His word, what if we need answers now and don’t have time for hours of study? Often it’s all too tempting to just skim a few verses, say a quick prayer, then hurry off to work. But that’s why I created the podcast God’s Word, Today’s World: Applying scripture to modern life. As a pastor, my job is to dive deep into the Bible and learn what God has to teach us. And my particular passion with scripture is applying it to life as a follower of Jesus in the 21st century.
