On the premiere episode of Hollywood Obsessed, host Tony Miros chats with actress Amy Hill who plays “Kumu” on the NBC TV series “Magnum P.I.”. During their lively discussion Amy speaks about her career beginnings in the San Francisco theater scene, her breakout role as Margaret Cho’s grandmother on the 1994 sitcom “All American Girl”, her thoughts on the current state of Asian representation on television and film as well as her love for fellow actress Michelle Yoah and her Oscar worthy performance in “Everything Everywhere All At Once”. Amy Hill's television and film credits number over 180. She is also known in the theatre world as a respected performance artist, having written and performed a number of one-woman shows, including the trilogy of Tokyo Bound, Reunion, and Beside Myself. She's worked with regional theaters such as The Mark Taper Forum, Berkeley Rep, Seattle Rep, Actors Theater of Louisville, The Public Theater in NYC and appeared on Broadway in Lincoln Center's Twelfth Night that also aired on PBS' Live from Lincoln Center. She is proud to consider East West Players as her LA Theater "home" where she has also performed, directed and taught. Amy’s first major role on television was as Yung-Hee “Grandma” Kim on the first Asian American family TV sitcom “All-American Girl” where her character became the breakout character of the short lived, but ground breaking television series. Amy has been a mainstay on American television as a regular in several series. Her most notable roles being, Mrs. DePaulo on “That’s So Raven”, Mama Tohru on “Jackie Chan Adventures”, Mrs. Hasagawa on “Lilo & Stitch: The Series”, Ah-Mah Jasmine Lee in “The Life and Times of Juniper Lee”, Judy Harvey in “Enlightened”, and “American Dad!” as Mah Mah. She was a series regular on the Amazon Video Web television show “Just Add Magic” along with recurring in “UnReal” as Dr. Wagerstein on the basic cable network Lifetime and The CW romantic comedy musical “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” as Lourdes Chan.
