Episode 1: Extreme Weather and Environmental Justice

from The Youth Climate Chat · host The Youth Advisory Council at the Human Impacts Institute

Welcome to the first episode of the Youth Climate Chat at the Human Impacts Institute! We are youth climate organizers that break down complex topics of environmental justice and climate change for listeners of every age! Today, we talk about how extreme weather affects environmental justice and environmental racism, with a lens on how extreme weather disproportionately impacts low-income communities, Black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), and women across the world. We look at case studies of natural disaster events in Saint Vincent and Texas. This is the place where young, dynamic, and vibrant people come together to have discussions about climate change, environmental justice, and the world around us. We're young, we're here, and we're going to change the world. © 2021 Human Impacts Institute, Inc. Background music by Scott Holmes, available under CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
