Episode 1: I Don’t Think I Know Much About It

to US, from US seeks to put public opinion in conversation with scholarly approaches regarding history.  In recognition of the United States’ 250th Anniversary, we ask members of the public what the Declaration of Independence means to them.  Their answers, combined with scholarly essays, provide us with a glimpse as to how Americans view elements of American history.     Episode 1 features Dr. Thomas James of Teachers College, Columbia University.  As the creator of the Imagining Liberty Project, he discusses his motives in creating the project.  Professor James hopes that the project guides people to think of the Revolutionary Period beyond the war, and to consider what the Declaration of Independence means in their own lives.      to US, From US is part of the Imagining Liberty Project at Teachers College, Columbia University
