The COVID-19 Pandemic shows the rise of anti-Asian sentiment in Canada, but this is not the first time for many Chinese-Canadians. In June 2006, over 100 Chinese-Canadians boarded the "Redress Express" from Vancouver to Ottawa. Why are they heading to Ottawa? Why is it called the Redress Express? As the train travels across the nation on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), take a look back in time at the history of the early Chinese workers who helped Canada build it. What follows is a troubled history filled with anti-Chinese policies like the head taxes and the exclusion acts.
