EPISODE #11 - JOSH LAJAUNIE

from Raw Gypsy Not Quite Hippie · host Raw Gypsy Not Quite Hippie

In this episode, I had the ABSOLUTE honor and pleasure to visit with Josh LaJaunie. A coon-ass from the bayou of South Louisiana. In a little town called Chackbay, La. Just north of Thibodaux, this young man, was surrounded by the culture of this area. That meant family, friends, hunting, fishing and the food of South Louisiana. If anyone knows anything about South Louisiana, FOOD is King! Unfortunately, in most cases, over-indulging in this food, while tastes AMAZING, has detrimental consequences. Josh, reluctantly, fought with his weight for years and eventually exceeded 420lbs. Believe it or not, this in not uncommon in the Bible Belt. But Josh's belt had reached its limit. The thought of giving a speech, his Senior year of college, with his shirt tucked in, was one of the catalysts that set Josh on an amazing course with his destiny.  Josh's destiny, to date, includes running in Half Marathons, Marathons and even winning an Ultra-Marathon! All the while losing an incredible 220 pounds and keeping it off with a Whole Foods Plant-Based Diet! This "Grind" as he calls it, has propelled him into the spotlight and allowed him to connect with so many people that normally wouldn't be reached. Josh has been featured 3 times on The Rich Roll Podcast *along with many others*. He has also been on Good Morning America, Today with Megyn Kelly and was also featured on the cover of Runner's World Magazine! This lifelong New Orleans Saints "FANATIC" will gladly accept that moniker because he ABSOLUTELY loves His Home Team! Sit back, relax and get ready to laugh, cry and reflect on family, love and hope! This is a GOOD ONE! NEWMORROW SESSIONS - A PodCast Series on the Future of Hospitality Mario C. Bauer, Florian Schneider, Axel Weber & Dr. Tillman Bardt The Newmorrow PodCast is more than a podcast — it's a platform for open dialog on the future of our business, a platform for those building what doesn’t exist yet. Here, we share and embrace our passion for the hospitality industry, but we won’t romanticize the journey. We ask the tough questions, confront uncomfortable truths, and prepare for a future that resists easy answers. We believe that the tougher and wilder times become, the more openly, honestly and humanely people need to talk to each other and act together. We believe, openness, togetherness, and truthfulness should also be cornerstones of a professional community to develop our utopian idea of „open source“. This is a space where visionaries don’t just imagine the future — they wrestle with the paradoxes that shape it: success vs. happiness, data vs. instinct, stability vs. reinvention. Join leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers as they share not what made them — but what’s actively shaping them, now and next. So tune in
