Episode 11 - The Leadership Committee

In SMEs of a certain size, a Leadership Committee often exists, but struggles to fulfil its role of steering committee. We meet, share information, comment on urgent issues… then everyone goes back to their day-to-day activities, and everything ends up back on the CEO’s desk. An effective Leadership Committee isn’t about adding more meetings. It’s a framework to make decisions fast and execute better. A simple model: A core group of 4–6 cross-functional decision-makers, with additional participants invited depending on the topic.Weekly, 45–60 minutes: quick trade-offs + review the top 5 priorities.Monthly, 90 minutes: KPIs, risks, resources, project portfolio.Quarterly: directions, budgets, transformations, and other major structural decisions. And one rule: every decision must be defined asWhat / Who / When / How we will measure it.
