Episode 14: "Changed for Good"

from Frankly: Faith & Culture in Brooklyn · host Canon John Denaro

In this episode of Frankly, Canon John talks with Mother Kate Salisbury in the final weeks of her eight-year tenure as Associate Rector of St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church and Pro-Cathedral. Mo. Kate’s many responsibilities in the parish included oversight of the families, children, and youth programs, which flourished under her leadership, as well as preaching and teaching, at which she excels. As she leaves St. Ann’s to take up the post of Canon for Christian Education at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, New York, Mo. Kate reflects on journeying with young and old to explore spirituality and the support the church can offer in times of uncertainty and social upheaval. She emphasizes the unique role of cathedrals (and pro-cathedrals!) as places of activity, activism and contemplation for the wider community. The podcast ends with Mo. Kate’s recording of a celebrated sermon she preached at a Sunday service shortly before her departure. Without a doubt, the impact of the ministry of this faithful priest has been profound and has changed St. Ann’s for good.
