Episode 17 Companions of the Compendium Bart Bennema Dutch National Short Sprints & Hurdles Coach
from Companions of the Compendium · host Ryan Joseph Banta
I had a great time discussing a deep dive into the training of an elite sprint group. Everything on and off the track must be developed and learned to bring an athlete to world-class status. I enjoyed learning Bart's process in developing training and his adaptations over time. He lays out his daily training within a weekly micro-cycle. We talked about numerous concepts from speed to sponsorship obligations and warm weather camps. He admits that vitamin D and sunlight can play a huge role in hedging our athletes against others in different climates. Bart was gracious enough to discuss why he still uses tempo and hill training as part of his sprint training. Click in and listen!
