Episode 192: A Story Close To Home with Ron Gellis, PhD

from The Trauma Therapist · host Guy Crawford Macpherson

Ron Gellis, Ph.D is back. This time, without a doubt, it’s personal. If you’ll recall, Ron joined me previously on episode 86 of the podcast (http://www.thetraumatherapistproject.com/podcast/ron-gellis-phd/). Today, I’m proud and excited to speak with him. In this episode, Ron shares with us a part of his life that is quite intimate and personal. As a result, this interview becomes an amazing opportunity for learning for each of us. Ron has been a Clinical and Forensic Sports Psychologist in California for over 30 years and specializes in PTS, TBI, addictive and/or co-occurring disorders. Ron was a Navy Psychologist during the post-Vietnam era during which time he treated and worked with the first wave of Vietnam veterans with PTSD. Ron has established The Integrated Recovery Foundation (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Integrated-Recovery/170412962991814), a program designed to assist Veterans and First Responders who have issues with PTS, TBI, addictive and/or co-occurring disorders. As an athlete, I have played soccer in high school and college. I have run 20 marathons with times ranging from 2:58-4:02 with most times between 3:05-3:20, during my 20’s to 50’s. In that time I ran countless 1/2 marathons, 10 & 5k’s. I have also completed a variety of Olympic and Sprint Triathlons. I have been a scuba instructor for over 20 years with personal passion for underwater photography. At the age of 60, I started CrossFit. I have been CrossFitting for almost 7 years and have qualified for the World CrossFit Games (http://games.crossfit.com/) as a Masters athlete 3 times. I am also a level 2 CrossFit Coach.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-trauma-therapist-podcast-with-guy-macpherson-phd-inspiring-interviews-with-thought-leaders-in-the-field-of-trauma/exclusive-contentBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-trauma-therapist--5739761/support.---Thank you for listening! If you want to support the show, I've got three options and every bit helps.$5.00 PayPalhttps://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/NPKS32G8KVSN2$10.00 PayPalhttps://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/495AMDFXQFC3L$15.00 PayPalhttps://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/M7V5RREUKVD8JThank you to our Sponsors: Jane App - use code GUY1MO at https://jane.app (https://jane.app/book_a_demo)Novo Psych - novopsych.com/traumapodcast
