Episode 2: Bashful Peak (8,005 ft) w/Lane Christenson
from Bagging Alaska Peaks: The Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Journey of Mountaineering
Lane Christenson is one of the board directors for the Mountaineering Club of Alaska and has been bagging high peaks in Alaska since he was in high school. I spent time with Lane and discussed his trip up Bashful Peak, the highest peak within the Chugach State Park. Despite encountering some harsh conditions and having to make 2 pushes for the summit, Lane and his team ultimately bagged the climb, claiming the first winter ascent of Bashful Peak. Enjoy the conversation as we discuss detailed route conditions, recommended gear, and what to expect if you're considering bagging the peak. Additionally, we talk to how Lane views the physical, mental, and spiritual piece of mountaineering.
