038R_But how bad this "smart city"! (research summary)

    Release Date: 03/07/2022

Description: Summary of the article titled But how bad this smart city from 2015 by Umberto Cao published in the Festival Architettura magazine.  Since we are investigating the future of cities, I thought it would be interesting to see smart city as the efficient city in absolute sense. This article investigates how this efficiency affects the architectural form and quality of the city, possibly creating a dystopia. The article is available through this link. Abstract: The Smart City is a machine, a sort of city-computer, where the hardware is made by buildings and infrastructures and the software by integrated digital networks. So an efficient city in absolute sense. The problem is when these goals and these procedures are considered able to generate an architectural form, or when considered sufficient to return quality to the city. An urban quality that derives from "efficiency" makes think more about dystopia of Fritz Lang's Metropolis that utopia of the New City of Sant'Elia. The transcript available through this link. 15- Our Intentions for this Year and Sharing Research

    Release Date: 01/19/2023

Description: Send us a Text Message.Ashley and Rebecca from The Crohn's & Colitis Dietitians talk about all things IBD-related. In this episode we talk about setting intentions for this year, anxiety, and some great takeaways we had from a recent IBD conference we attended. We start off this episode discussing intentions and what they mean to us. When we set intentions we think about honesty, awareness of the whole picture of our life and being decisive. We reflect on how it can be beneficial to shift how we approach things and to pause and slow down in our busy lives. When setting intentions, we ask ourselves, is this in alignment with what I truly want in my life? We also talk about personal experiences with anxiety, overstimulation and dissociation and how people with IBD may tend to be more sensitive than the average person. We hope that what we share makes others feel less alone! We talk about a recent IBD conference we attended and how it inspired us, especially with research we would like to do in our practice in the future.  We also share information about some medications and biologics that were discussed at the conference. We brought up how knowledge is power and we have to weigh the risks and benefits of the treatments offered  vs. the risk of uncontrolled inflammation.
