Episode 20 - Generations and Transformation

from Alpionys - Les Petites Histoires de Transformation · host Alpionys

In a transformation, one of the bottlenecks is often the speed of adoption. Independent of age, this speed is shaped by each person’s perception of the effort required, the risks involved, the meaning of the change, the support available, and the credibility of the initiative. That is why so-called “generational” frictions are often misdiagnosed. We need to move away from asking “who is resisting?” or “who is slowing things down?” and instead ask: “who sees which losses or benefits for themselves, and then for their work?”More experienced employees often detect collateral effects earlier. Younger employees often spot gains in simplicity, speed, and autonomy more quickly. While this is not an absolute rule, when these perspectives are not brought into dialogue, they can turn into a conflict of interpretations. The result is transformation fatigue: high visible compliance, but low real adoption. The priority for leadership teams?Manage adoption, not just deployment.Competitive advantage is reflected in the strategy an organization launches—but above all, it is won through the transformation that is actually adopted.
