A score north of 50 indicates adversity; below that threshold lies privilege. Colleges will see this number, but students will not. College Board will add adversity score for everyone taking the SAT — Among the factors that would go into the adversity index are some that are economic (proportion of students at a school who are eligible for free or reduced lunch), that reflect economic challenges (housing instability) and educational status (percentage of students who go on to college).
