Van Hurd is a current Nutmegger transplanted by way of Texas. Van is Head Chef and Pit Master at Taino Smokehouse in Middletown with a new location slated to open in Meriden this spring. Van and I talk about our favorite local restaurants, our favorite regions of BBQ (we both answered Carolina), his return to Hell's Kitchen as an all star chef and his personal views on the local chef competition scene.
