Christopher Noxon is an author, artist and contributing journalist for The New Yorker, Details, The New York Times Magazine, and Salon. He has authored three books, one of which "Good Trouble: Lessons from the Civil Rights Playbook" recently made headlines after it was placed on a banned book list in Virginia Beach as a prop of conservative political theatre. His first book "Rejuvenille" landed him as guest on Good Morning America and The Colbert Report in the same day, and Christopher shares what it was like hanging out with Stephen Colbert "out of character" in the green room. But most importantly of all, Christopher shares notes from navigating the recent profound loss of his 20 year old son Charlie, who tragically passed away on their family ski trip together in 2020. Christopher shares the difference between trauma and grief, the beauty he experienced mourning within the jewish tradition of "sitting shiva", and the not so subtle way Charlie recently snuck into Christopher's art unbeknownst to him. This episode is a resource for learning how best to support friends or family who are experiencing profound loss, how you don't have to "move on" to move forward, and how Unconditional Love transcends the impermanence of form.    For more on Christopher Noxon, visit: www.christophernoxon.com Christopher Noxon's art on Instagram: @noxonpics LOVE IS THE AUTHOR produced, edited, and hosted by Jaymee Carpenter.  Follow us on Instagram: @loveistheauthor

Dead Beautiful What if the man you love is the God of the Dead? That's the problem facing Persephone. Her mother, Demeter, is a Level-1 goddess who wants Persephone to marry Darryl, demi-god of home repairs, and stay close to home. Her father, Zeus, the top god on Mount Olympus, is a bit grumpy these days, fed-up with all the demands being made on him. And Hades, well, now that she's getting to know him, Hades isn't what Persephone expected at all — he's handsome, smart, sensitive and witty — in a word, hot.Beautiful, intelligent and strong-willed, Persephone's in line to be a Level-1 goddess herself someday. The problem is … she's dissatisfied and restless. This new take on the classic myth is a smart, sexy, fast-moving read. Dead Beautiful explores the many faces of love, explains why there are four seasons, and reveals what really happens after death.* The author would like to thank filmmakers Joseph Ghaleb (www.josephghaleb.com), and Daniel Faria (www.danielfaria.com) and musicians Manuel I Revealing. "Who is "Miss Ellis?" Why did she board a ship from France to England at the beginning of the French revolution? Anyway, the loss of her purse made this strange "wanderer" dependent upon the charity of some good people and, of course, bad ones. But she always comforts herself by reminding herself that it's better than "what might have been..." This is not only a mystery, not at all. It's also a romance which reminds readers of novels by Jane Austen. Published in 1814, the same year as Mansfield Park, it shares some themes with it. It is also very modern, speaking freely of independent women (like Elinor), weak male characters, and unrequited love. Yes, a love triangle is lurking behind the scenes, and, in this case, it is not clear if the happy ending is suitable. At the time when it was published, critics did not like this political novel, and said that the difficulties which "Ellis" faced From the Heart with Rachel Brathen Rachel Brathen Rachel Brathen is a bestselling author, podcast host, and serial entrepreneur who inspires millions every day.
