Summary

In life, we struggle to find meaning and purpose as it feels like we are going nowhere and chasing a shiny object after another. This is why we created the "Pursuing Our Own Paths" Podcast to document our journey as two individuals who decided to go away from the conventional path. James being an ex-high paying engineer at a well-known US firm to becoming an esports personality and entrepreneur. Ervin going from a normal student to failing two businesses and finally succeeding in his third business - freelance copywriting. In this episode, we bring on a special guest who is only 15 years old and crushing it in entrepreneurship! We will mainly be discussing: 1) A quick introduction about our first podcast guest (He's only a 15 years old student but already running his own email marketing agency!) 2) What does Johnny's parents feel about their son going into entrepreneurship so early? (This can impact your journey early on in business in a good/bad way) 3) Why did Johnny go into entrepreneurship at 12 years old? (Hint: his first business was not copywriting, it was something that every teenager wants to be these days...) 4) The biggest challenge Johnny faced while juggling his first business and school (Everybody has to go through this in life/entrepreneurship when starting something new. However, most people choose to give up too early because they are scared of this) 5) In life, there are a lot of painful moments but pain is necessary to give you this breakthrough. Listen to what Johnny has to say about "breakthrough moments" (His Tiktok video got 200K views because of learning how to do content creation from his Youtube channel earlier) 6) Growing up as an immigrant in a foreign country is not easy especially if you are forced to learn a third language. As a Korean growing up in Hong Kong, Johnny was struggling his whole life to learn Chinese but the problem is that most universities won't take you in if your Chinese is not good enough. Listen to how Johnny figured out how to get out of this painful situation that was out of his control from birth 7) How Ervin started his first dropshipping business and lost over $2000+ over a few months while making no money. (Plus: How Johnny started his second business doing dropshipping with ZERO paid traffic) 8) Why Johnny enrolled into Dan Lok's High Ticket Copywriting Program and eventually continued to invest in a copywriting coaching program that was about 3000 USD (One of the best business advice I gotten is that when you find something that is working, you should stick to it.) 9) The reason why successful people can achieve what most people can't is because they understand this powerful concept about failure. Get this right and you will last longer than most people in the game of entrepreneurship 10) Why Johnny feels pain is the best thing to happen in his life. (His mindset is already way more successful than most people in his age group) 11) The Iceberg effect about entrepreneurship (Social Media doesn't show this dark side enough...) And many more life bites...
