Summary
In life, we struggle to find meaning and purpose as it feels like we are going nowhere and chasing a shiny object after another. This is why we created the "Pursuing Our Own Paths" Podcast to document our journey as two individuals who decided to go away from the conventional path. James being an ex-high paying engineer at a well-known US firm to becoming an esports personality and entrepreneur. Ervin going from a normal student to failing two businesses and finally succeeding in his third business - freelance copywriting. In this episode, we talk about how to help those who are lost in life to find their life purpose using a proven tool Ervin used that helped him to do just that. We will mainly be discussing: 1) Why there was no podcast episode last week because Ervin had a health problem (No, it's not COVID) 2) People always say that it is too late to start a business if you are old but also say that is too early to start if you are young. (Here's why Ervin and James say that having this thinking is wrong and here's a proven life example of this) 3) Everyone wants to figure out what they want to do in life but there's no blueprint for that. Hear what Ervin has to say on this topic using an ancient Japanese philosophy 4) How do you know whether you are going in the right or wrong direction (Relying on this usually works in your favor) 5) Albert Einstein has a famous quote "If you trick a monkey into thinking it is a fish its whole life, it will truly believe it is a failure and be depressed." Here's how you can use this quote as your life compass 6) Your environment plays a HUGE factor in your success right? Listen on to see how your environment can help you find your life purpose as well. 7) What is the Ikigai concept and how can its four circles help you to figure out your life purpose (Ervin used this to help him and others to find their life purpose) 8) When it comes to pursuing a career in writing, people usually assume that you need to be academically inclined and have a degree right? Wrong! Around 11:00 of the podcast, listen to what Ervin has to say on how he nearly gave up on becoming a writer and then realizing it is still possible to be a writer (Not an English teacher, lawyer, or author) 9) In your life, you probably dreamed of being an astronaut, actor, Youtuber, or something that sounds unconventional right? Most people have passion in a field that usually is against what society wants and they never dare to pursue their passion because they assume it is useless. (Listen to around 16:00 of the podcast on why you can pursue your own path and still make it work for you with a proven example as an entertainer) 10) Always wanted to find out how you can be more confident of who you are? It all boils down to this. And many more life bites...
