For a younger viewer this may be confusing to you because school shootings, and shootings in general within the US are quite common now. At this time they were not uncommon but Columbine was the deadliest that happened up until this point. This episode has Buffy receive psychic powers from a demon, which start to drive her insane, but before she starts to completely suffer, she hears someone say in the school that they are going to "kill them all". So the scoobies have to save Sunnydale from a human this time. Humans can be monsters too (as any true crime fan knows).So keep your hands inside the slay at all times children as we enter the hellmouth.
